December 1910: Glasgow Perthshire Union – Annual “At Home”, at the Ewing Galleries, Sauchiehall Street – 520 Sauchiehall Street
An article on page four of The Strathearn Herald, on Saturday the 24th of December, 1910, reads:
“GLASGOW PERTHSHIRE UNION.
The annual ‘At Home’ of the above was held in the Ewing Galleries, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, on Tuesday
evening last. The large attendance of members and friends spoke volumes for the good the Glasgow Perthshire
Union is doing in the city. During the evening Miss Jeanie B. Scott favoured the gathering with a song. Her singing
was too much appreciated to permit of one song satisfying, and she kindly responded to an encore. Dancing was
kept up until 2 a.m., when the company dispersed after singing ‘Auld Lang Syne.’ The ‘At Home’ was one of the most
enjoyable functions the Union has held during session. Messrs H. D. Liddle and J. P. McIntyre acted as M.C.’s, and
the music was supplied by Carl Miller’s Scarlet Band.”
