A short article on page twenty-three of the Daily Record and Mail, on Wednesday the 15th of February, 1928, reads:

GOVAN VERSE-SPEAKERS.

Harmony Row Public School, Govan, has achieved the distinction of being the first school under Glasgow Education

Authority to organise a verse-speaking choir.

The children, who are all under 14 years of age, are conducted by Miss Nessie Knight, of Langside, and a public concert

is to be held in March in aid of the Necessitous Children’s Holiday Fund.”
