TO OUR READERS
NOW-A-DAYS, nobody places the slightest faith in the numerous promises generally contained in an Introduction. Therefore, without preface, we place our first Number before the public. We content ourselves with announcing our intention of exposing the abuses and follies of the town. Look out then is our warning to all quacks and humbugs. – In our capacity as dramatic reviewers, we shall use the players “according to their deserts.”
