1885: The Stillie Bursary
A short notice on page four of The Morning Post, on Thursday the 14th of May, 1885, reads:
“Mrs. Stillie has founded a bursary at Queen Margaret’s College, Glasgow, for female students
in the higher branches of musical study. It is to be called ‘The Stillie Bursary,’ in memory of her
late husband, for many years connected with the Glasgow Herald as music critic. In private, as
in his public capacity, he did much towards fostering the study and appreciation of the best music,
not only in Glasgow but in Scotland.”
