December 1911: First Day of the Royal Polytechnic’s Grand Ladies’ Orchestra, in the Restaurant Louis XVI, on Monday the 4th, with Alexander McCredie, “The Great Tenor”

An advertisement on page four of The Glasgow Herald, on Monday the 4th of December, 1911, informed readers about

that day’s musical entertainment in the Polytechnic’s Restaurant Louis XVI.

 

The store announced that it was the “FIRST DAY OF OUR GRAND LADIES’ ORCHESTRA, IN SPECIALLY SELECTED

MUSIC, From 12 to 5.30 o’clock.”

 

Following his success the previous week, Alexander McCredie, “THE GREAT TENOR”, was engaged to sing four songs,

including In Sympathy, Until, and Thora. He performed between 4 and 5 o’clock.
