February 1900: Royal College of Music Scholarship Competitions – Master James Friskin, a Pupil of the Glasgow Athenaeum School of Music
A short notice on page six of the North British Daily Mail, on Tuesday the 27th of February 1900, reads:
“ROYAL COLLEGE OF MUSIC.—The scholarship competitions, open to candidates from all parts of the
kingdom, were held in London last week, and we learn that the principal scholarship for pianoforte
playing, tenable for three years, has been gained by a pupil of the Glasgow Athenaeum—Master James
Frisken [sic]—who has studied for several years under Mr Alfred Heap. Master Frisken [sic] is announced
to take part in the programme at the annual concert by the pupils of the school this evening in St Andrew’s
Hall.”
