February 1909: Glasgow Inverness-Shire Association – 42nd Annual Gathering of the Natives of Inverness-Shire and Friends, in the Queen’s Rooms, on Friday the 19th
The Queen’s Rooms were a popular venue for gatherings of “natives” of a wide range of regions in Scotland, who had moved to
Glasgow to work, or for further education, among other reasons.
An advertisement on the front page of The Inverness Courier, and General Advertiser, on Friday the 12th of February, 1909,
reads:
“GLASGOW INVERNESS-SHIRE
ASSOCIATION.
42ND ANNUAL GATHERING
OF THE
NATIVES OF INVERNESS-SHIRE
AND FRIENDS
IN THE QUEEN’S ROOMS, GLASGOW,
On FRIDAY, 19th FEBRUARY 1909.
Doors open at 7.30 p.m. Concert at 8 p.m.
The Hon. ALASTAIR FRASER of Lovat
in the Chair.
The services of the following Artistes have
been secured: –
