Glasgow Musical Association, November 1850

On page two of The Glasgow Herald, on Friday the 29th of November, there is a short notice:

Glasgow Musical Association.- On Monday evening the Association gave their first public performance this season in the City Hall. We feel much pleasure in stating that the singing was excellent. The choruses were better given than on any previous occasion. The long practice the members have had is beginning to manifest itself in the beautiful precision with which the most difficult pieces of vocal harmony were delivered. The solos were generally well sung, and Miss Rainforth has gained considerable additional popularity in Glasgow from the finished manner in which she sung the sacred songs intrusted [sic] to her. We were glad to see the hall so well filled.”
