July 1893: The Glasgow Glee and Catch Club – Prize of $75 for the Best Original Composition in Glee Form

A notification in a column, headed “PASSING NOTES.”, on page six of The Toronto Daily Mail, on Wednesday the 12th of July,

1893, reads:

 

“The Glasgow Glee and Catch Club offer a prize of $75 for the best original composition in glee form. The competition will be

absolutely an open one. The top part must be written for tenors, and not altos, as in some of the old glees.”
