June 1915: Visit the Byzantine Hall, at John Anderson’s Royal Polytechnic, Ltd.

An advertisement on page eight of the Daily Record and Mail (Daily Record in The British Newspaper Archive),

on Friday the 25th of June, 1915: reads:

 

“VISIT THE BYZANTINE HALL.

GLASGOW’S NEW SMOKE ROOM

AT THE

ROYAL POLYTECHNIC, LTD.

THE MOST MAGNIFICENT SMOKE-ROOM in EUROPE. Like one of the

ORIENTAL PALACES from the Arabian Nights Entertainments. EVERY-

THING IN EXCELLENT TASTE. Come and see the Wonders of this new

Smoke-Room. You will agree that they have in nowise been exaggerated. The

Decoration of the Hall is indeed an achievement.

 

VOCALIST TO-DAY (FRIDAY), 1.30 p.m.

Renowned Tenor …………. MR. ALEX. McCREDIE

MUSIC by POLYTECHNIC ORCHESTRA.

LADIES WILL BE ADMITTED TO THE CONCERT IN THE NEW
