March 1899: Lord Provost and Lady Richmond’s Juvenile Fancy Dress Ball, in the City Chambers, on Friday the 10th

An article on page four of The Glasgow Herald, on Tuesday the 7th of March, 1899, reads:

“LORD PROVOST AND LADY RICHMOND’S JUVENILE FANCY DRESS BALL. – This

interesting event comes off in the City Chambers on Friday evening first. The acceptances

number 450 children and 450 adults or spectators. The children will be received in the

Satinwood Salon by the Lord Provost and Lady Richmond from half-past six o’clock. Parents

and other spectators will, on leaving the cloak-rooms, proceed to the ballroom, and take seats

there, or in the gallery and corridors. The Lord Provost regrets much that more spectators

could not, for want of adequate accommodation, be invited.”
