May 1923: Photograph of the Caledonian House Choir, with Mr. Thorpe Davie, Conductor – Prize-Winners at the Glasgow Musical Festival
On Wednesday the 9th of May, 1923, on page nine of the Daily Record and Mail (Daily Record in The British Newspaper
Archive), the newspaper published a photograph of the prize-winning choir.
The accompanying heading and caption read:
“WAREHOUSE CHOIR’S TRIUMPH AT GLASGOW MUSICAL FESTIVAL.
The Caledonian House (Messrs. Copland & Lye, Ltd.) Choir, who won the Elsie Inglis Memorial Challenge Trophy at the
Glasgow Musical Festival in St. Andrew’s Hall. They also carried off the James Gallie Challenge Trophy and honours
certificate for the Open Class, Female Voice Choirs. Mr. Thorpe Davie was the conductor.”
