Mr and Mrs George Lowe, October 1856: Lowe’s Rooms, 4 Albany Place, Sauchiehall Street – Academy for Dancing, Deportment, and Calisthenic Exercises

An advertisement on the front page of The Glasgow Herald, on Wednesday the 1st of October, 1856, reads:

 

“LOWE’S ROOMS, 4 ALBANY PLACE,

SAUCHIEHALL STREET.

 

ACADEMY FOR DANCING, DEPORTMENT, AND

CALISTHENIC EXCERCISES.

 

MR. and MRS. GEORGE LOWE have the honour to announce that

their PUBLIC and PRIVATE CLASSES will be RESUMED on

WEDNESDAY the 1st October, when they trust their anxiety and

efforts for the advancement of their Pupils will secure them a renewal

of that distinguished patronage which during past seasons it has been

their pride to acknowledge.

 

The GENERAL or PUBLIC CLASSES will meet Daily, as formerly, between

the hours of Twelve and Five o’clock.

 

SELECT PRIVATE CLASSES for DANCING, limited to Eight Pupils in each,

will be resumed between the hours of Twelve and Two o’clock. These Classes

meet three times a week – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

 

MRS. LOWE’S PRIVATE CALISTHENIC CLASSES for YOUNG LADIES will

be re-opened on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between the hours of Twelve and

Two o’clock.

 

Mrs. Lowe’s Private Classes meet in a separate Class Room, having also

separate Dressing Room from those occupied by the General Classes.

 

MR. LOWE’S PRIVATE EVENING CLASSES for GENTLEMEN, from

Eight till Nine and Nine till Ten, will be re-opened on the 3d November.

 

Cards of Terms, &c., may be had on application at the Academy.
