An advertisement on page seven of The Glasgow Herald, on Friday the 18th of April, 1856, reads:
“NEW SCOTTISH SONG.
By JOHN JAMES EWART,
Known as Professor EWART, the Ventriloquist.
This beautiful song, which has been sung nightly by
Miss Anna Greive, in Edinburgh, and has created such a
sensation, may be had of the Publishers, SWAN & CO.,
Buchanan Street, and all Musicsellers.”
