St Peter’s Established Church Congregational Soiree, February 1866: Miss Helen Kirk and Mr Lambeth
An article on page four of The Glasgow Herald, on Saturday the 10th of February, 1866, includes the following:
“ST. PETER’S ESTABLISHED CHURCH CONGREGATIONAL SOIREE. – A meeting of the above congregation
was held in the Large City Hall on the evening of Wednesday last. The hall was beautifully decorated with flags,
and was well filled … The church choir sung very effectively several pieces of sacred music, and Miss Helen Kirk
sung a few songs in her best style. Mr. Lambeth presided at the grand organ. The meeting separated at about
half-past ten o’ clock, highly delighted with the evening’s entertainment.”
