The Belgian Relief Fund, November 1914: Scottish Orchestra at Kilmarnock

An article on page eight of The Glasgow Herald, on Tuesday the 10th of November, 1914, reads:

SCOTTISH ORCHESTRA AT KILMARNOCK

A party of 30 members of the Scottish Orchestra gave a concert in the King’s Theatre, Kilmarnock,

on Sunday night, in aid of the Belgian Relief Fund. The work of the orchestra, which was under the

conductorship of Mr James Edgar, was enthusiatically applauded by an audience that numbered

between 2000 and 3000. Mr Henri Verbrugghen was solo violinist, and Miss Carrie Tubb had a

hearty reception as vocalist. Mr Verbrugghen also delivered an address on the present condition on

the Continent.”
