The Glasgow Anacreontic Society, March 1861

An advertisement on page two of The Glasgow Herald, on Wednesday the 27th of March 1861, reads:

 

“TO AMATEUR MUSICIANS.

“THE GLASGOW ANACREONTIC SOCIETY are open to receive a few additional GENTLEMEN AMATEURS as MEMBERS, for the following Instruments – Cornet, Tenor Violins, and Bass (Wings and Stringed).

Apply by letter, addressed ‘Anacreontic,’ Herald Office.”
