April 1858: A Boucher and Cousland Villa, in the Italian or Villa Rustica Style, for Sale in Dowanhill

An advertisement on page three of The Glasgow Herald, on Friday the 30th of April, 1858, reads:

 

VILLA AT DOWANHILL FOR SALE.

TO BE SOLD,

 

AN Elegant and Commodious VILLA, built in the Italian or Villa Rustica style, with Half an

Acre of Ground attached. It contains Dining Room, Drawing Room, Parlour, Five Bed Rooms,

Two Dressing Rooms, Kitchen, and Servants’ accommodation.

 

The House, which has been substantially built, from plans by, and under superintendence of,

Messrs. Boucher & Cousland, stands on one of the finest sites on the Dowanhill Grounds.
