April 1909: Sale of Pictures, Including Those Removed from Holmwood House, Cathcart, in the Saloon of The Mart, 7 West Nile Street, on Friday the 23rd
An advertisement for the auction, by J. and R. Edmiston, is on page sixteen of The Glasgow Herald,
on Monday the 19th of April, 1909. The sale was on Friday the 23rd, and also included pictures from
‘Bantaskin’, Falkirk.
The paintings from Holmwood were to be sold by order of Messrs. Boyds, Miller & Thompson,
Writers, 190 St. Vincent Street. A list of the works includes “Six very important examples of Hugh
Cameron, illustrating Tennyson’s Idylls of the King”.
