December 1861: Henriette Browne (Sophie de Bouteiller,1829-1901), “The Sisters of Charity”, in the Gallery of James McClure & Son, 100 Buchanan Street
An advertisement, on page two of The Glasgow Courier, on Thursday the 12th of December, 1861, reads:
” ‘ THE SISTERS OF CHARITY,’
Painted by the Celebrated French Artist
HENRIETTE BROWNE,
And which attracted such universal admiration in the
Exhibitions of Paris and London, is now on View, for a
few Days, in the GALLERY of JAMES McCLURE & SON,
100, Buchanan Street.
Open from 10 till 4 o’clock.
December 5, 1861.”
