December 1882: Presentation of Portrait to Miss Beatrice Clugston

A notice on the front page of The Glasgow Herald, on Monday the 11th of December, 1882, informed readers that a meeting of subscribers

and friends would be held in the Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, 175 Sauchiehall Street, on Tuesday the 12th, at two o’clock. The portrait of

Miss Beatrice Clugston was to be presented to her, by Sir Peter Coats. David Sandeman was Convenor of the Committee.

 

“Ladies and Gentlemen interested in Miss Clugston’s Philanthropic efforts” were “cordially invited to be present.”
