December 1917: Painting Auctioned in Aid of the Funds of the Limbless Sailors and Soldiers’ Hospital, Erskine

A short article on page five of The Glasgow Herald, on Thursday the 6th of December, 1917, reads:

 

“A picture entitled ‘A Day in June, Glenfalloch,’ presented by Mr A. Brownlie Docharty to the

Glasgow Fishmongers’ Company, was sold in the Fish Market yesterday in aid of the funds of

the Limbless Sailors and Soldiers’ Hospital, Erskine. The amount realised was £20, and to this

£12 was added in donations. Mr Robert Martin was honorary auctioneer.”
