Eve Baker: Artist and “A Militant Suffragette”

While searching for information on the Glasgow-based artist Eve (Evangeline) Baker,

I was led to Liz Arthur’s essay, “The artistic, social and suffrage networks of Glasgow

School of Art’s women artists and designers”, in Suffrage and the Arts: Visual Culture,

Politics and Enterprise, edited by Miranda Garrett and Zoë Thomas, 2019 and 2020.

Articles in contemporary newspapers and journals provide more details about Eve’s

activities in Glasgow, London, and other places in Scotland, in the late nineteenth

and early twentieth centuries.
