July 1931: Royal Edinburgh – Two Illustrations by Nan Muirhead Moffat, in “The Glasgow Herald”
During the visit of the King and Queen to Edinburgh in July 1931, the ‘Women’s Topics’ section,
on page eight of The Glasgow Herald, on Monday the 6th of July, 1931, has an article, ‘Royal
Edinburgh: City of the Feminine Soul’, by Christine Orr.
Nan Muirhead Moffat provided two illustrations, neither of which has a title, but have the artist’s
monogram: ‘NMM’. One is an interior, which has two figures, one of whom probably represents Mary,
Queen of Scots, the other a street scene with two figures in 1930s clothes.
