June 1865: George Cranston and the Crown Hotel, 54 George Square

An advertisement on the front page of The Morning Journal (Glasgow Morning Journal in The British Newspaper Archive), on

Friday the 9th of June, 1865, reads:

 

“GEORGE CRANSTON begs to intimate that he has OPENED those excellent Premises, 54 GEORGE SQUARE, opposite POST

OFFICE, to be known as the ‘CROWN,’ and conducted as a COMMERCIAL HOTEL.

N.B—A portion of the CROW HOTEL, 20 GEORGE SQUARE is retained under the same management.”
