June 1878: New Central Halls in Glasgow

An article on page two of The Evening Telegraph (Dundee Evening Telegraph, in The British Newspaper Archive), on Friday

the 7th of June, 1878, reads:

 

“NEW CENTRAL HALLS IN GLASGOW.

It is proposed to commence immediately the

erection of New Central Halls in Glasgow, a site

having been secured at the north-east corner of

Sauchiehall Street and Renfield Street. The Company

promoting the undertaking held their first general

meeting yesterday. Their capital is £60,000, of which

two-thirds has been already subscribed.”
