March 1852: The Art-Union of Glasgow – Prize Paintings at Hill’s Gallery of the Fine Arts, 67 Princes’ Street, Edinburgh
An advertisement on the front page of The Scotsman, on Saturday the 6th of March, 1852, reads:
“ART-UNION OF GLASGOW.
HILL’S GALLERY OF THE FINE ARTS,
67 PRINCES’ STREET, EDINBURGH.
THE Public is respectfully informed that the
PRIZE PAINTINGS, STATUETTES, &c.,
to be Distributed in MAY next amongst the
MEMBERS of the ART-UNION OF GLASGOW,
will be Exhibited in MR HILL’S GALLERY,
67 PRINCES’ STREET, on and from WEDNESDAY,
10th, to THURSDAY, 25th March, inclusive.
Admission Cards having already been liberally
circulated amongst the Patrons of the Fine Arts, a
charge of SIXPENCE will be made to those parties
not presenting a Ticket, to prevent the Room from
being over-crowded during the Exhibition.
