October 1856: The Glasgow Art Union Prize Pictures, in Birmingham, Due in Manchester

A short notice on page two of The Birmingham Journal AND COMMERCIAL ADVERTISER (Birmingham Post, in The British

Newspaper Archive) on Wednesday the 1st of October, 1856, reads:

 

“THE GLASGOW ART UNION.—A word will suffice to announce that the exhibition of the fine collection

of pictures, bought by the Glasgow Art Union Committee, for distribution amongst the subscribers, closes

positively on Saturday, as the works are due in Manchester.”
