The Early History of Glasgow’s Egyptian Halls, in Union Street: April 1872 – George Ballantine & Son Inform Customers About New Premises

A notice on page two of The Glasgow Herald, on Thursday the 4th of April, 1872, informed their customers and the

public that only part of their premises at 114 Argyll [Argyle] Street had been affected by the fire at Messrs Fraser and

McLaren’s, and that business would continue there “until their New Premises in that Elegant Building in Union Street

are completed, which will be early in May”.
