The Golden Age of Sauchiehall Street: November 1914 – The Picture Salon – Coloured Postcard with View of the Tearooms
A short notice on page 45 of The Kinematograph and Lantern Weekly, on Thursday the 26th of November, 1914, reads:
“A very useful advertising idea has been hit upon by the management of the Picture Salon, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.
This consists of a pictorial postcard bearing a coloured view of the handsome tearooms which form a conspicuous
feature of the interior. These tearooms undoubtedly rank among the finest of the kind in the kingdom.”
The British Newspaper Archive.
It is worth pointing out that the page number reference on the Newspaper Archive is given as ’47’, whereas the number on
the page of the publication is ’45’. I yet have to see, or locate, an example of the postcard.
