The Ups and Down of Working Freelance: Malice at The Mound – 1
For a considerable period of time, I have given a great deal of thought as to whether or not I should share my experience
of the malevolent behaviour of Helen Smailes, one of the curators at the National Gallery of Scotland/ Scottish National
Gallery, The Mound, in Edinburgh.
A person I had trusted for many years, and whom I considered to be a friend, as well as a colleague, went out of their way
to spread malicious and unfounded comments about my research and other work. I consider their actions, and their subsequent
failure to be open and honest about what they had done, not only to be a breach of trust, but also a poor reflection of the duties
of public servants.
The facts will be laid out over several entries.
