Amateur Theatrical Performances: Two Benefits for John Dobson, the Stage Manager and Principal Comedian of the Local Irving Club, November 1883

From page four of The Glasgow Herald, on Thursday the 29th of November, 1883:

 

“AMATEUR THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES.- Mr John Dobson, who is known as the stage manager and principal comedian of the local Irving Dramatic Club, being about to leave the amateur for the professional stage, his friends have arranged a couple of complimentary benefit performances on his behalf. These will take place to-night and to-morrow night in the Langham Halls, Buchanan Street. Upon both occasions an interesting programme will be submitted, and Mr Dobson will be supported by a number of capable ladies and gentlemen.”
