January 1900: Performance of “The Idler”, by Members of the Glasgow Athenaeum Dramatic Club, in the Public Hall, Stirling, on Behalf of the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Families Association

An article on page six of The Glasgow Herald, on Monday the 15th of January, 1900, reads:

 

“PERFORMANCE OF ‘THE IDLER’ AT STIRLING. – On Saturday night the members of the

Glasgow Athenaeum Dramatic Club gave a very successful performance of ‘The Idler’ in the

Public Hall, Stirling, on behalf of the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Families Association. There was a

large attendance. During the evening Colonel Trotter, commanding 91st Regimental District,

returned thanks for the most hearty way the public of Stirling and district had supported the

fund, and proposed a vote of thanks to Mr Bunbury, county assessor, for his trouble in getting

up the performance.”
