Letters to the Editor, “Daily Record and Mail”, April 1940 – Nessie Knight Club

On page eleven of the Daily Record and Mail, on Tuesday the 16th of April, 1940, is a letter from Nessie Knight Paterson, of Langside,

in Glasgow. It reads:

NESSIE KNIGHT CLUB

Sir, – I should like to take this opportunity of thanking you and the members of your

staff for all the help you have given to me personally and to my Club in their recent

big drive for Foreign Missions.

We are very proud to be able to tell you that the result of our effort is a balance of

£982. This is from our fortnight’s activities in the Lyric Theatre, including the

presentation of the plays, ‘The Little Minister,’ ‘Nine Till Six,’ and also our African

Missionary film; and the total does not include any donations.

We would take this opportunity of thanking the public of Glasgow and an even

wider area for all their support of that hospital in the lonely valley of Sulenkama.

NESSIE KNIGHT PATERSON,

Langside.”
