An article on page thirteen of The Glasgow Herald, on Friday the 21st of March, 1924, reads:
“PAGEANT PLAY
A dramatic entertainment promoted for the purpose of assisting the bazaar fund of the Royal
Samaritan Hospital was given in the Hall of the Royal Institute, Glasgow, last night. The fore
part of the evening was devoted to a performance of Christina Rossetti’s pageant play, ‘The Royal
Princess,’ in which the principal parts were ably taken by Miss Queenie Russell, Miss Jean Baxter,
and Mr G. Milligan. The piece was well staged and gracefully carried through, the excellent service
rendered by Miss Margaret Kydston as reader and Miss Agnes Davidson at the piano being a
feature of note. The presentation reflected credit upon Miss Ida Brown, who was responsible for
its arrangement. ‘Dances of the Seasons,’ to the music of Greig, Schumann, Schubert, Chopin,
Coleridge-Taylor, and other composers, were artistically given, Miss Agnes Dykes providing the
pianoforte accompaniment. At an interval Miss Jessie Townson played several violin solos with
much taste.”
