March 1946: Bertha Waddell’s Children’s Theatre at Newport, Fife, with Marjorie Johnston, Elizabeth Cardno, Agnes Leitch, Gudrun Ure, and Jenny J. Waddell
A short article on page two of the Courier and Advertiser (Dundee Courier, in The British Newspaper Archive)
on Monday the 4th of March, 1946, reads:
“CHILDREN’S THEATRE
AT NEWPORT
Newport, Wormit, Forgan, Gauldry, and Tayport scholars, along with a complement of grown-ups,
thronged Blyth Hall, Newport, on Saturday afternoon, for a performance of Miss Bertha Waddell’s
children’s theatre.
Newport Youth Council, with Mr R. L. West as secretary, arranged the visit, which was the first to the
district.
Miss Waddell, some of whoso arrangements of songs were sung, had with her Misses Marjorie Johnston,
Elizabeth Cardno, Agnes Leitch, Gudrun Ure, and Jenny J. Waddle [sic]. Provost Hayens moved thanks.”
