September 1894: “The Stage” – ‘Cynthia’s Sacrifice’, at the Theatre Royal – In Aid of the Henry Talbot Memorial Fund

A short notice, under “PROVINCIAL ITEMS”, on page fourteen of The Stage, on Thursday the 20th of September, 1894,

reads:

 

Cynthia’s Sacrifice, by Edwin Drew, will be played at the Royal, Glasgow, Saturday afternoon, October 27, on the occasion

of the benefit to aid the fund for raising a memorial to the late Shakesperean [sic] actor, Henry Talbot. Messrs. Wyndham and

Howard have granted the free use of the theatre to Miss Emilie Burke, niece of Mr. Talbot, the lady who is managing the

entertainment, and Mr. De Banzie will find the band, and the entire working staff give their services.”
