The Glasgow Empire Palace License, April 1887

A notice on page six of The Glasgow Herald, on Saturday the third of April reads:

“A special meeting of the Magistrates of Glasgow was held yesterday to consider an application by the Glasgow Empire Palace (Limited) for a license to carry on entertainments in the new premises in Sauchiehall Street. Mr Angus Campbell, writer, appeared in support of the application, and there were also present Mr H. E. Moss, managing director of the company; Mr Frank Matcham, the architect; and Mr Frank Allen, general manager for the company. Pending a report by Mr Arnot, the electrical engineer of the Corporation, the Magistrates deferred consideration of the application until this afternoon.”
